Paul William Vaillancourt (2/10/2009 8:21:21 PM)
- I sit here in shock. I had no idea "Mo" had passed. I knew him as "Sir" or "L-T"...sometimes "BatMite". He was my platoon leader in Bravo Company 2/504th. I had many platoon leaders, but there is no doubt that Lieutenant Heisig was by far the best.

He led our platoon like a 20 year vet when he was a brand new, wet-behind-the-ears butter bar. When we jumped into Panama in Operation Just Cause, he had the confidence of the entire platoon and earned it time after time. I always thought our platoon was the hardest because of him.

I always admired him. He is one of the only officers I can say that about. Come to think of it, I admired him as much as anyone I have met in my life.

I’m terribly sorry to hear that he is gone. I would appreciate if someone might share with me what happened.

I will try to scrounge up some photos and send them in.
